Traveling for work has its ups and downs, everyone knows this. In some cases, work travel can be a great thing. It can facilitate the exploration of all different cities across the United States, if you work for a domestic company, and possibly cities all over the world if your business is international. Although you may not have a lot of free time to do all of the touristy things on your list, your business trip can serve as a preview. You can get a feel for a city after being there for just 24 hours, and if you like it, you always go back on personal time. On the other hand, there are some work destinations, Boise, for example, that your first instinct tells you will be less than exciting. You wonder to yourself, do they even have wireless Internet in Idaho? The answer is yes, and that is not all they have.

The city of Boise is the capital of the state of Idaho. Boise resides in Ada County and is also the biggest city in Idaho, based on population. Located on the Boise River, this is the principal city of the Boise City-Nampa metropolitan area and the largest city between Salt Lake City, Utah and Portland, Oregon. As of the 2008 Census Bureau estimates, Boise’s city population was 205,314. This population was large enough to make it stand as the third largest city in the Pacific Northwest. The Boise metropolitan area is estimated to have 585,207 inhabitants, by far the most populous metropolitan area in Idaho. It is also the 98th largest US city by population.

All of these statistics are one of the reasons why Boise is a rapidly growing town and of increasing interest to many businesses. While some people may associate the entire state of Idaho with farmlands and potatoes, companies here are quickly adapting to the 4G craze that has taken hold of our nation and spread across the globe.

Not only are companies here just as technologically equip as in other major cities throughout the States, during your business trip you can take advantage of several other things the city has to offer. One of the greatest perks of traveling for work is being able to expense things such as transportation and hotel accommodations. Another great thing most companies will foot the bill for is meals. When you check into your hotel, hop on the Internet with mobile broadband access and check out some of the culinary gems Boise has to offer.

After enjoying a great meal at the finest Italian restaurant in the city, there is a growing nightlife in Boise that is worth a look. Check out a cool piano bar or late night show in the city. If you have a free morning or afternoon, swing by the Old Idaho Penitentiary. Your schedule will probably not allow for a guided tour, so take advantage of mobile WiMax and do a little research on your cell before entering.

By the time your business trip is over, you will be surprised by the amount of great things Boise has to offer, in addition to high speed wireless internet.
